Something is seriously wrong when Americans spend over $4 trillion in annual health care expenditures and rank dead last in health care equality and below some Third world countries in returns on such cash outflows. Inside America, we read reports confirming that disparities still exist in our health care system and infrastructure to provide equal and timely access to medical care and follow up treatment for those with diagnosed conditions--and such lack of access and high costs often lead to millions of preventable deaths. This is shameful, and we have the technology and the financial means to do far better. We are taught as believers of God to love and care for the least in our society, and to be that Samaritan in responding to those we see in need of healing and comfort. What do you think? |
